This week (aside from just being a gorgeous seven days of summer time) will be the week of July Fourth. A holiday I personally celebrate (contrary to the conventional focus of the holiday) in respect to the indigenous peoples of this land we now inhabit. The original, forgotten inhabitants of this continent will be very much in my thoughts. So, I am offering a special menu for July 4th. It will include cooked and raw options so everyone is happy!
15% of the money taken in on that day will be donated to The National Society for American Indian Elderly. This will help fund resources and care to low or no-income native elders. Here is what the NSAIE says about their service: "American Indian seniors have the highest rates of poverty and some of the lowest rates for service intervention. The NSAIE reaches approximately 20,000 American Indian seniors which live in areas with extremely high rates of poverty. In fact, poverty rates for American Indian seniors over the age of 60 years exceed 70% in these tribal areas.”
Help make this July 4th a happy one for everyone.
